this keyboard looks beautiful and does it's job. i like the media controls on the keyboard (i have a wireless keyboard hooked up in the living room that is also logitech and it also works like a charm and the media controls are great!).

the lighting is really pointless in my mind. i mean if you are in a dark room and you need light, don't most people have their computer monitor in front of the keyboard already? and that isn't enough light? anyway i don't entirely get the need for lit up keys.

as sleek as it is, i am a big dude (6'5") and have huge hands. this thing is ever so slightly awkward to type on. i think with the keys being as thin as they are, sometimes i hit more than one character. and i type pretty fast at around 85 wpm. so i like a keyboard to be pretty dexterous in this regard, and this keyboard falls short a bit.

i think over time i will get used to it more, but it is taking some getting used to, and usually most keyboards after 2 minutes i am typing perfectly on them.

that's the only con, really. maybe someone with smaller hands won't have the same problems.

I bought this keyboard for my son and both he and I are very pleased with it. I looked at a lot of other illuminated keyboards before buying this one. The white backlighting is easy on the eyes and illuminates the keys better than the colored lighting. The keyboard is super thin and the keys are easy to use. Have had no problems with it at all.

I am extremely picky when it comes to keyboards. I'm not sure if a perfect keyboard exists out there for me, but I have found a few that are pretty close and this Logitech illuminated keyboard is one of them.

Pros: Very stylish, quiet keys, nice back-lighting, excellent key feedback and feel, decent amount of hot keys for a smalish keyboard.

Cons: Attracts fingerprints, dust and grease like a magnet. Keys very quiet, but could be better. Not ergonomic at all. Pricey for what you get, I think this unit is slightly overpriced (by about 10 dollars or so).

This is not a negative review and the keyboard would be great but for one LARGE problem. It is not compatible with certain BIOSes.

I recently purchased a new Dell computer and bought this keyboard as a nice alternative to the functional but lackluster stock keyboard. When Windows loaded everything was fine. But, and a big 'but', was that if you need to press a key before Windows loads, the keyboard is not recognized. So if you have to get into safe mode, CMOS setup, or Windows did not load properly the previous time and you need to select how to load with arrow keys, it doesn't work.

I called Logitech and their agent told me the keyboard was fine, and it was a driver issue. To test it she had me load my browser and press F5 to see if the screen refreshed. After arguing with her for half an hour, I asked for a senior level tech. He told me that in a year and a half of employment he had seen this problem 3 times, but yes indeed there was an issue with some BIOS chips, and advised me to call Dell for a BIOS update if there was one.

If you've dealt with Dell, you know how much help that is. Their biggest problem was I didn't buy the keyboard from Dell. I attempted futilely to get them to contact AMI to make them aware of the problem.

So I am forced to return what is otherwise a very nice keyboard. The backlighting has several levels. Contrary to another review, the F keys do illuminate, but with their alternate function symbols. But they are group in the common groups of 4 keys, so it's easy to determine which you need in the dark. The enter key could be a little larger, as I often will hit the shift key instead of 'ENTER'.

The only other complaint I have is a thin edge made of clear plastic that goes around the sides and back of the keyboard that appears to serve no function, and, to me, detracts from the beauty of the keyboard.

If this were a wireless keyboard, I might tolerate the BIOS problem. But to have two corded keyboards connected seems a little much to compensate for a problem that should not exist.

I ordered this keyboard for my second computer. For my first computer I already have a keyboard I absolutely love: Logitech's diNovo Edge.
Compared to Logitech's diNovo Edge this keyboard is half the price, it's slightly thinner, it's completely backlit and most importantly, it does have a Num-pad. On the other hand it's not wireless, it doesn't feel as sturdy, it's missing the touchpad and the multimedia controls and as you'll see next, it didn't cut it for me.
After a couple weeks the colon/semicolon key started looking twisted until it finally fell off the keyboard. With utmost care I placed it back but it would keep falling apart. Later I realized the back of the key was defective.
Keep in mind I didn't abuse this keyboard in any way, actually, I barely used it.
I know Logitech makes quality products, I love my diNovo Edge and I also own two MX Revolution (best mouse on earth). I'm surprised and a little disappointed about this backlit keyboard, it's the first time they ever let me down.
